Space Utilization and Demand Study

In August 2024, UW-Madison began a space utilization and demand study to better analyze and address how we can ensure we are making highest and best use of our valuable space assets. We are performing this study to:

  • understand current usage patterns — How is existing space being used? What are the drivers of current space usage?
  • project future demand — Both the classroom and workplace are evolving quickly. What are UW-Madison’s future needs?
  • propose recommendations for improvement — What is the actionable way forward to enhance utilization and productivity, so we can better support the university’s mission?

See the study information page for more.

INSITE to FM:Systems Software Migration

In 2023, we received notice that the UW-Madison space software, INSITE Net-FM, would no longer be supported. The non-profit organization that licensed and supported INSITE dissolved, and their operations were closed.

We are currently running INSITE as a self-supported system, and while it is fully licensed and stable, we are actively working to migrate to a new solution from FM:Systems.

We estimate that we will go live with FM:Systems in late 2024 or early 2025. Although it will look and feel different, the new system will support the same core functionality and operational requirements as INSITE. It will also provide some new features that weren’t possible before.

See the Space Software Migration page for more info and FAQs.
